In our part of the world, there is a culture of spoon-feeding and pampering the children in every possible way. This goes on until the child reaches his or her twenties. And at this point in life, they are clueless about how to approach the challenges of life. Because of being too dependent on others and not taking full charge of their lives from an early age, their abilities get severely affected. Therefore, there is a need to inspire our children so that they not only become independent but also are able to contribute to the society.
Today is 20th November, the Universal Children’s day. Thus now is the best time to share some of the amazing works minor minds around the world are doing to bring a positive change in society.
Here is the list of 10 children who are being the change, the world needs:
1- Greta Thunberg
Greta Thunberg is a 16-year-old Swedish girl who is fighting against the climate change. She started by doing small protests alone, outside the Swedish parliament to take the required measures for tackling climate change. Eventually her sit-ins with the sign “School Strike for Climate” became a global campaign “Fridays for Future”. The young climate activist recently even participated in UN Climate Summit 2019. Her whole campaign is that humans must reduce their carbon footprints at any cost. The inspiring Thunberg was also a Nobel Peace Prize nominee for this year.
2- Sophie Cruz
Sophie Cruz is a 9-year-old daughter of two undocumented Mexicans in America. She is a young American activist, raising voice for the immigrants. In 2015, when she was only 5, she took the world by storm. As she succeeded in delivering a hand-written note to Pope Francis, trespassing his security. The note talked about her worry for her parents as they could be deported. The next day then Pope talked to Congress to reassess the immigration policies. Since then Sophie is busy enlightening people about the issues of the immigrants.
3- Robby Novak
Robby Novak aka Kid President is famous for his inspiring pep talks on YouTube. He is a 15-year-old boy, dealing with osteogenesis imperfecta (bone disease) and had over 70 breaks so far. But he did not let this in his way to be awesome as he continues to spread smiles and the message of sympathy. He is inspiring the people both on and off the screen.
4- Laurent Simons
Laurent Simons is only 9, and he is doing wonders at this minor age. Laurent, the little genius from Belgium is going to be the youngest university graduate. He is enrolled in Eindhoven University of Technology (TUE), pursuing his bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering. He will graduate in December 2019 and already planning to pursue a Ph.D. along with studying medicine.

5- Malala Yousafzai
Malala Yousafzai is a fearless girl from Pakistan. She was advocating the right of girls to education from the age of 11-12 through her blogs. As some extremist wing in the country was against that, they tried to assassinate her when she was 15. Malala along with 2 other girls got badly injured. She survived that and continued her mission of promoting education for girls. Also she write books and runs a charity named Malala Fund. At 17, she became the youngest Nobel Peace Prize recipient.

6- Yash Gupta
Yash Gupta is another incredible teenager. He wears eyesight glasses since he was 5 therefore he knows the difficulties children with weak eyesight and no glasses face. Hence he came up with a brilliant idea of Sight Learning. This organization collects the discarded glasses and gives them to the ones in need.
7- Nicholas Lowinger
Nicholas Lowinger once saw two siblings alternatively attending school because they had only one pair of shoes. This gave Nicholas the idea to start a charity named Gotta Have Sole foundation. Since 2010, this foundation has donated 76,000 shoes to the homeless people.
8- Teagan Stedman
Teagan Stedman when saw his friend going through chemo therapies, he observed the changes occurring to the patient’s body closely. Then he started an extensive research and biology and nanotechnology and finally came up with a better way for the treatment of tumors. For this ingenious work, World of Children awarded him Youth award 2017.
9- Ryan Hickman
Ryan Hickman is a young Eco-entrepreneur. At the age of 3 he visited a recycling plant in California and developed his interest in recycling. He began by collecting bottles and cans from his neighborhood. He then set up his small Ryan Recycling Company and till the age of 7 years, he was able to pay for the college.
10- Jahkil Jackson
Jahkil Jackson of Chicago is a social entrepreneur. He is an 11-year-old boy helping the homeless people through the organization Project I Am. He himself founded the organization when he was just 8-years-old. Jahkil distributes ‘blessing bags’ among the homeless people, which is filled with some essential items like wipes, socks, toothbrushes, sanitizer, etc.
